Sis wedding anniversary

17August marked the 2nd anniversary of my younger sister. Dah 2 tahun ok! And she already has a 10 months old baby. And I’m yet to get married.

Anyway, she planned to surprise her hubby with a night stay at Concorde KL. Since my company is having corporate rate with the hotel (and almost every hotel in Malaysia for that matter), I offered to check in for her so that she’ll be able to enjoy the special rate.

To make it more enjoyable, the hotel upgraded to room to Premier. The room is huge and I especially love the bath room (but still cannot beat Hilton or Maya). However the TV is very frustrating. While almost all leading hotels in KL is now using plasma tv in their rooms, Concorde is still using the old bulky ones.

I bought the couple a box of cuppies from cupcakeChic. I left it on their bed for them to enjoy. Hope you enjoyed your stay sis! Congratulations and wishing many happy years to come~ xoxo

Trifle

During my dinner at a friend’s house, I was served trifle for dessert. It was my first time tasting it and I think it is one of the best desserts apart from ice-cream (with lots and lots of choc fudge and nuts), tapai ice-cream, pudding, etc.

So being the person who loves to try and explore, I tried it my self at home. During my first attempt, the custard mixed with jelly instead of forming a separate layer. On the second attempt, the Swiss roll which I placed at the bottom level floated! I was really frustrated. And it remains floated on my third attempt. I give up!

So after telling my frustrations to the friend, he suggested for me to do a hands on learning from his maid at his house. I agreed. Finally, my trifle turns out in the actual form and taste delicious.

Some ideas that i found on the internet. Yummy!

The best roti john EVER

I’m a fan of roti john. Probably because it is somewhat resemble sandwich, only it is more oily and less healthy, hehehe. One of the reason, my 4 years living in Kerteh was depressing is due to the fact that I can’t have roti john every time ramadhan arrived. Believe it or not, they don’t sell roti john at pasar ramadhan in Kerteh. Meanwhile in KL, roti john is one of the must-have-item at any of the pasar ramadhan (Ramadhan Bazaar).

Being a fan, I’ve tried and tasted roti john in quite a few places. Nampak jer on the menu, I will order it. And the best one by far is in Taman Warisan, Putrajaya. Far, I know. That adds to the reason why I find the roti john so special. Lagi susah dapat lagi best :D What makes this roti john so sedap (yummy)? Simply because the seller is not stingy in putting lots of meat, uses lots of eggs, and vege (this is very crucial), mayo (errr.. guilty!) and the special chili sauce used. And also the roti is cooked to perfection. No rushing, it is well cooked.

So last Friday, while trying my wedding dress at Butik Puteris in precint 8, I have one and only one thing on my mind when my fiancé ask what to have for lunch. ROTI JOHN Taman Warisan!

So that is exactly where we went. For those of you who never set foot at this place, you should. The place is named Taman Warisan simply because it is located in a Botanical Garden hence contributing to the serene and calm environment. The setting of the place is also different from any other typical looking food court.

I manage to take some snap shots of the place. So guys, savor your eyes on the mouth watering, infamous Roti John.

At the same time, Zoe grows more and more frustrated with Ryan's bullying behaviour, and his shameful neglect. Whatever happened to the loving man she keeps hearing about from his neighbours? Zoe can't find any sign of him. The only thing saving Zoe from despair is the small, close-knit group of British nannies who quickly befriend her. There's boisterous Trudie, man-mad but hiding a painful secret; Sloanie traveller Amber, who sports a Buddhist tattoo that, unbeknownst to her, reads 'Batteries Not Included'. Terrifying experience

I was on outstation yesterday. It was only a day trip. I took the 6.30am FireFly flight from Subang Airport to Kerteh.

Coming back from KL, I took the 6.20pm flight back to KL (duh… memang sehari ada 2 flight jer pun coming in and going out from Kerteh… hahaha).

The journey normally took about 1 hour. After spending the first 45 minutes reading the new novel that I bought, I decided to relax my eyes for the remaining 15 minutes. Suddenly I hear the pilot announced for all the passengers to get back to their seat and buckle up. 5 minutes later, the plane is experiencing the most terrible air turbulence that I ever experience in my whole life. The plane is dropping down and coming back up again for few times. I tighten my belt and held tight to the arm rest. The English man seated next to me is holding bending his head down to his lap. Just like in the emergency instruction manual that you can find in your seat pocket. Then everything went back to normal. 45 minutes went and we are still on the air. According to the English men next to me, the plane is circulating at the same spot for 8 times! I believe the pilot is unable to land the flight due to the bad weather.

Looking down the window, I can already see the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. I begin to think that the pilot decided to land there instead. But I was wrong. This is probably because the traffic was heavy. I begin to feel motion sickness. I shut my eyes close and begin to pray. The lady seated across me had already vomited.
Few minutes later, I can see the Subang Airport. It is still raining heavily outside with thunderstorm and lightning making the whole situation worst.

The whole plane remains silent and focuses on the landing. We finally land safely and the whole plane cheered and giving a loud applause. Phew… I cried. Happy tears.
The stewardess told me that if it is not because of the experience and high skilled pilot, we could have skidded on the runway. Bravo Mr Pilot!

Yes, I was traumatized by the experience. But my job requires me to travel. That leaves me no option. The only alternative is to drive. But it can be really tiring at times. Nak naik bus? huhu.

I think Iove my wife

After browsing my DVD folders,I came across this one DVD that have been in my keeping for quite sometime. I bought it long time ago but sumhow i forgot to watch it. Title is "I think I Love My Wife".

Its about the life of married couple after several years in marriage and several kids after. In summary, women grew busy. More time spent on work, children, house routine, and non for herself. Men on the other hand, have only one thing in their mind and one thing only. That is sex. Cant blame it on them. The were "design" in such way. hehehe

Anyway, there's a scene where the couple were in a lingerie store. The wifey were busy picking an old and oversize undies (selesa katanye), while the hubby is literally begging her to buy the other pair which is skimpy and sexy. One thing lead to another, the hubby was tempted to cheat with another hot gurl, which in the end he didnt.

Anyway, this entry is dedicated to me.I love wearing sexy and cute undies. Especially the ones from La-Senza. After maybe 10 or 20 years down the road, I must keep reminding my self to still put on sexy undies for my hubby. I promise :)

What do you think of crown for wedding?

Last Friday, my fiance and I both took the day off to settle a few matters for our wedding. First stop is Butik Puteris in Precint 8, Putrajaya. I went there once and immediately felt in love with one of the dress. What makes this boutique special, at least to my eyes, is that it is catered for Muslimah. All the wedding dress comes complete with hijab. What makes it appealing to free-haired bride to be like me is the beautiful design of the dresses, modern style and decent all at the same time. And for free-haired bride to be, they do provide hair accessories as well.

The attire that I chose is a long dress with matching beautiful French lace that comes with a meter long train. I took a picture of the dress but won’t be showing you for now as I want it to be a surprise on my wedding day. Baru la thrill kan? Kalau tak hilang seri :D I was told by the girl that the lace used to make the dress is one of the finest and it cost RM1,000 per meter (a total of 5 meters were used). And the total cost for the dress is RM15K! *gulp* I’ll be extra careful not to ruin/damage the dress.

Next I tried on the nikah outfit. Everyone said it look nice one me, but I’m not so keen of it. I need to look for other alternatives. Kalau takde jugak, then I’ll settle for that one. I’ll be wearing tudung for Nikah and free haired for the reception. I tried on few hair accessories. Once I watched on E! about fashion crime. One of the things listed is bride who wore crown/ tiara on their wedding. Unless you are the next heir on the throne, tiara is a big no-no. Problem is, I tried the hair accessories that “melingkar/ melekap” to your head, but it looks weird on me. And I think I look good in the beauty-pageant-like tiara… What do you think? I don’t think it is too much considering it doesn’t look like a queen crown. Susahnye nak decide!

I would love to have something like this!

Next stop was the printing shop in Jalan Pudu. After 2 hours of browsing, comparing, talking and discussing, we finally came to an agreement on our wedding card. Finally! It is beginning to make me nervous thinking that our wedding is only 3 months away!

Final stop is Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur. The aim is to at least get one item pending on my fiance hantaran list. Susah betul la fiance saya sorang nie… sgt la cerewetnye. We wanted to get his pants, shoes or watch. Unfortunately, we spent one and a half hours for his shoes only! He tried few pairs in Bonia, but I can see the hesitation… hehehe. Next he tried few shoes in lacoste. After trying on 6 pairs of shoe, walking back and forth in front of the mirror, and countless questions of “Cantik tak sayang?”, he fainally choose a white pair of casual shoe. Phew! And it cost me RM399… kasut hantaran saya was only RM200 ok. Mahalnye kasut lelaki! Takpe sayang, janji awak puas hati :D

Sakit Gigi

I have a very2 bad tooth ache today. Probably because my wisdom tooth finally decided to make an appearence. According to my sis, the pain is due to limited space available for the wisdom tooth to come up and it is pushing its way through other teeth... ouch!

I tried to make appointment with my regular dentist in Tmn Tun. But his schedule is impossible. He is only available 4 days from now. So i decided to give a few other dentist a try. The one in Curve and Subang Parade is also full. I never realize how difficult it is too book dentist time. Macam nak book movie pulak.

I'm quite scared to try the normal dentist (the cheaper one i mean). Bukan nak berlagak. I'm just traumatized by all the stories told by my friends about how the end up in more pain and bleeding.

So while waiting for my visit to my dentist, my fiance suggested for me to take a pill that he used to take whenever he had a tooth ache. So i agreed. But I change my mind once he park his car at a kedai runcit (convenient store) and came out with a plastic wraped pill. Since when people actually get their supply of medicine from a convenient store? packaging dia pun tak convincing. The name of the pill is "Wing Heng Tablet" ~ Untuk sakit gigi, sakit kepala, demam & kesakitan. So i assume its a painkiller. It has a Kementerian Kesihatan license tho. K.K.LIU 0655187/HJ. Any body care to check?

But since my pain is unbareable, and it is begining to give me headache, i decided to give it a try. Afterall it has a positive outcome for my fiance. And true enough, after consuming 2 tablets, the pain subside in just 5 minutes!

But people, by saying this, It is not my intention to recommend it to you. You be the judge. hehehe. you are responsible on your own body and teeth for that matter.

Owh btw, i was told that Sakit gigi is the ranked 2nd in the "pain" list.betul ke? Apparently, birth was ranked first. I'm yet to experience that. will share with you once i did. hehehe

Spice up Your Day with Sub of the Day

I always have sandwich either for b’fast or lunch. It is the simplest and less-guilt way of indulging your meal. And you get to be creative with them too. Sweet savories like peanut butter jelly, peanut butter and banana, varieties of Jem, and not forgetting fillings such as tuna, chic mayo, roasted turkey and the list goes on and on. All you have to do is put your creative hat on, and experiment.

On my lazy days, I opt of buying them instead. It can be pricey as opposed to preparing them on your own. One sandwich can cost you from RM7 – RM15. (By this, I don’t mean the typical 2 slices of white bread, some tuna with 2 slices of cucumber).

Working in KLCC, I have wide selection of sandwiches to choose from. Coffee shops, bakeries, as well as Restaurant that is specialized in sandwich making.
Few weeks back, I received a promo flyer from Subway. They are currently promoting what they termed as “Spice up Your Day with Sub of the Day”. Each day, you get to buy a “Sub of the day” at RM7.50 (6-inch). The normal price for the selected sandwich is RM10.50. Being a sandwich lover, I’m trilled over the promo. So I decided to give it a try one day. It is Sunday and the “Sub of the Day” is Chicken Teriyaki.

After observing the staff skillfully prepared my sandwich, I finally figured how Subway manages to afford this promo (or maybe it’s only valid for the one in KLCC). Please bear in mind that I always frequent Subway or O’Brien. So I’m quite familiar with them. For “Sub of The Day”, they use less of everything! They put less amount of chicken, only 1 slice of cheese as opposed to the normal 2 slices and less vege. That’s cheating! They cheat customers into thinking that it is a bargain where the actual fact is that you only get what you paid for. Nothing more! Jahat…

Well, like I said, I dunno if every other outlet is using the same “trick”. You can try yourself and tell me your experience.

Orang Berbudi Kita Berbahasa :D

Last week my dad went to his fruit farm in Johor. Now is the season. So my dad is busy going up and down from KL to Johor to arrange for some of his fruits to be purchased by MARDI.

One day I received a text from him that reads “Come to my house A.S.A.P to get pulasan and rambutan”. So naturally I went (I’m a fan of rambutan!). I took a sack full of rambutan, pulasan and some bananas. The fruits are one of best I've ever tested. Manis, lekang, and all. According to my dad, he spent a lot to ensure he got the best breed.

Since I believe it is totally impossible for me to finish the fruits alone, I decided to give some to my neighbors. There are altogether four units (including mine) on my floor. They were so happy to receive it (or at least they appear happy… hehehe). And I’m happy too as my sack full of fruits is now down to only one plastic bag.

So last night, while having my dinner and watching the news on TV, I heard the bell on my door rang. It was my neighbor, tersengih with a plastic container in one hand. It was cempedak (what is it called in English ye? Jackfruit is nangka… what is cempedak?). Awwwhhhh… it was so sweet of him to return the favor. I saw another 2 container in his hand and I assume it is for the other 2 neighbor.

Thank you neighbor! Although he is Chinese and I’m Malay, we prove that Malaysia is after all harmony. One Malaysia!

Peri-Peri

Before, I can’t even understand why people love Nandos so much. I tasted them once, but I despise their own made chili sauce. I always think that Kenny Rogers is way better.

But after working in KLCC, after some convincing and persuasion by my friends, I had my lunch at Nandos for the second time after few years. And to my surprise, I love them. I love the chicken, the herbs and spices used to marinate the chicken; and I love the fact that they can design the chicken according to your tolerance level towards spiciness.

The one particular menu that I always ordered for lunch is Pita Chicken(hot)with 1 side dish (RM14.90++). I always ordered either coleslaw or potato salad for my sides. But last week I tried their baked vege. They are nice too. The fact they freshly bake your vege makes the whole eating experience feels healthier… hehehe… whatever that means.

See that snapshots below, tell me what do you think?

What made Amos so Famous?

I have a sweet tooth. That’s why I failed miserably after all the endless and countless effort for dieting. Konon seminggu tak makan nasi, tapi makan choc (or anything that has to do with choc) tak henti2. Hampeh.

I love, I mean, really-really love Famous Amos cookies. The rich texture of the cookies, the fresh nuts used, the aroma, owh… you’ve got to try them if you haven’t. And tell me how u feels about it.

Anyway, I went to Famous Amos in Alamanda. The intention was to just grab a drink (and curi-curi the smell), tapi ternampak pulak that this particular outlet is actually selling ice-creams. Better still, they are selling “Chocolate Chip Cookies Ice-Cream”. One scope of vanilla ice-cream being sandwich in between cookies. How does that sound? Yummy!

So without thinking, I paid RM4.90 for one of those. But people, unfortunately, it is not as tasty and yummy as it sounds. The supposedly crunchy cookie turns soggy, I supposed because it was socked in the ice-cream for to long (yes, they pre-prepared the ice-cream sandwich). And they wrap the sandwich in plastic wrapper which makes it very messy for you to unwrap. I believe the Famous Amos team will need to do some hands-on study for improvement, or better still, just scrap the idea entirely. It is very2 frustrating. Don’t even think to give them a try.

soggy sandwich... yuck!

Ikan Hodoh

My company receives a group of visitors from Terengganu today. I accompanied the delegates for dinner at Nelayan Titiwangsa restaurant.

This is my first time visiting this restaurant. Before, I know that this place is jam packed especially during Ramadhan due to their reasonable price. They served steamboat buffet. Although there are not so much variety (ye la, dah bayar RM24/pax, you cant expect more), the food are tasty! Sume yang saya try sedap. Puas hati…
The ambience is nice too. The restaurant is facing the infamous tasik Titiwangsa, the place is spacious, and they have live performances too. The place is perfect for wedding receptions too.

But what interest me the most is the fish that they rare in the pond. Will tell you more later.

Growing up, I was not thought by my mom to eat “Ikan Air Tawar”. By that, I’m not a fan of any fish falls under that category. I especially “scared” of this one particular fish that I named “Ikan Hodoh” (Ugly fish).Literally because of the way the fish look. In normal circumstances, the name of the fish is actually Ikan Keli. I know, I know, that is very bad for me to say that for the poor fish, but I can’t help it! Ironic enough, my fiance loves the fish. In fact, he’s a fan! Hahaha… padan muka saya. I already made a rule tho. If he were to eat the fish while I was having the meal together with him, he have no choice but to cut the head off. There’s no two way about it… arrgghhh

Coming back to the pond, the restaurant has the Ikan Hodoh in it. Not just one, not just the normal one… what they have is enormous. Let the picture below do the talking.

Saya takut!!!!!

they might look tiny, but believe me, its HUGE!

Around 4 states in 5 days

Last week is very tiring for me. Not only that I had to work over the weekend, but I had to travel to 4 different states too. Adeh, sakit pinggang driving.

First destination: Port Dickson, N9 (23-24/07/09)

I had to attend a forum on Corporate Social Investment at Residence Desa Lagoon Resort, PD. I’m also required to present a paper on CSR implementation for my company… huhu.

This place looks very spooky for the outside. The entrance is very dull (I would suggest for the management to put up more signboards, advertisements, decorative tree, etc). But once you are inside, the whole mood changes. All chalets were painted tiffany blue. Very eye soothing and calming. I like! And the reception staff was very informative and helpful.

The food is delicious too. Tapi tak banyak choices la… hey, you get what you paid la kan. And the place is TOO quiet for those of you whole enjoy up-beat lifestyle. Not entertainment (live-band or yang sewaktu denganye).

I would highly recommend this place if you were to go for family or friends vacation. The price is affordable. The apartment that I was staying in, it has 2 rooms and the rate is only RM150 (PETRONAS Staff get discount if you stay here. You only pay RM75 :D). Although the apartments are equipped with kitchen, the management strictly forbid cooking in the apartment (I dunno why, lupa nak tanye).

The room is also equipped with a wide selection of ASTRO channel. Movies, Sports, Cartoon, Documentaries, etc. So, for the price I’m paying, I’m satisfied.

Second destination: Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang (25-26/07/09)

This is for one of the many Community Program conducted by my company.Being in PR, I have to lead, manage, and coordinate the programs.

Balik from the program, I took the opportunity to go back to my home town. Dapat la jumpa aunties, uncles and my 2nd Sis (she and her family is staying in Feringghi)

BAKTI Program

Pasembor Penang.. I loike!

On my way back to KL, right before the tunnel in ipoh, all the vehicle came to a stand still. After a few minutes waiting, I can see a few drivers begin to turn off their engine, some even started walking out from their car and chatting under the star light. I begin to feel restless. I called the highway help-line and was informed that there is an accident after the tunnel involving 1 bus, 5 cars and 1 van. They have no choice but to close the tunnel until the vehicles involved are cleared off the road. *sigh*. We waited for almost 2 hours before we can resume our journey. Journey that normally takes about 5 hours max from Penang to KL turned out to be a long 7 hours!

Third destination: Kerteh, Terengganu (28/07/09)

I’m co-organizing training on protocol that was held in Kerteh. This is mainly to cater for our contract staff that seldom got the opportunity to attend any sort of training.
During lunch time, I had keropok lekor and Air jagung by the beach of Paka. I don’t think futher description on how tasty the keropok lekor in Terengganu is required. The taste is out of the world. Kalau KL punye keropok lekor, they put more flour instead of fish.
Anyway, I just want to share the view of the place where we had our lunch with all of you. It’s breath taking!

PC Fair?

Last weekend bangun sangat awal. This is all because I wanted to accompany my darling fiance to PC fair. Obsess sgt dia with all this gadgets. He wanted to look for laptop, and I wanted to change the casing of my external hard disk (sy sgt ganas, habis semua patah).

So I woke up early (there goes my sunday!). Susah gila ok nak cari parking around KLCC on weekends, especially when there are events like this one.

We finally decided to park at KLCC and walk to Convec. Sangat la ramai orang.

Finally fiance tak beli pun laptop. He said PC fair every year ada. He will buy them after our wedding. Sian dia, misti simpan duit untuk kawen :D

After changing the casing for my hard disk, we walk back to KLCC for lunch. After lunch, we went to I-Setan, Parkson & Pedro to look for hantaran. The mission is to get shoe for my fiance (beacaue I already got mine). Tapi tunang saya tersangat la cerewetnye. After kaki dah lenguh going from one shop to another, still tak jumpa the one that he wanted.

Walking pass Vincci, nampak byk sgt org berebut2 pilih kasut. Yela, it is Mega Sale. Since it is my intention to buy a platform shoe, I decided to have a look. Do you wanna see what I bought?

Fiance is so impress with my shopping skill. With so many people crowding in the shop, and in less then 45 minutes, I manage to buy 3 pairs of shoe. Sayang, bukan saya pandai shopping, awak tu yang sgt cerewet :p

Since the price range is very affordable, I decided why not!. Kalau Nine West ke, Guess ke, terpaksa la beli satu jer every month.

So ladies, feast your eyes. Hehehehehe. The price range is between RM69.90 to RM79.90(murah giler kan?)and the price is before 20% less!

Pair 1: Nice Brown Heels, I loike!

Pair 2: Finally, a platform!

Pair 3: Ala2 Gladiator Shoe

What's cooking

Dunno why, this lately saya terlebih rajin masak dinner. Quite frequent I must say. Especially during weekdays (Weekend is for me and fiance to have our lunch/ dinner together outside). Maybe it is because now I’m staying on my own. Or maybe because tak lama lagi nak jadi isteri orang, so I need all the prektis that I can.
So last week terfikir la nak update my cooking in this blog. I must say that my cooking skill got better and better each day. Ayam masak lemak cili padi, Tomyam campur, Sweet & Sour fish, Bubur jagung, and others.
Let me show you some of the pictures yang sempat saya ambil. Siapa nak recipe? Hehehehe

Food presentation adalah penting... hehehe

Close-up: Nasi Goreng Kampung, Telur Mata, Chicken Strips... yummy!

Healthier Choice: Grill Chicken Sandwich, fish nuggets & fries

What else should I try ya?
