Love means never having to say you are sorry

What can you say about a twenty-five-year-old girl who died? That she was beautiful. And brilliant. That she loved Mozart and Bach. And the Beatles. And me. ~ Love Stroy, 1970

I was watching Oprah and she is discussing the movie that was adapted by the novel written by Erich Segal, called Love Story.

I was excited and shocked and cant help but to recall the book that I've read more then 10 years ago back in the university.

See, university life and library is very synonym. but not to me. I hated library. I only go there to find books for reference (just because my lecturer ask us too), or just to check out handsome guys (the seniors I mean.. hehe).

A few weeks before final exam, out of guilt and because all of my friend is going, I decided to go to library for a group study. But I loose focus and started to look for books. As you may know by now, I love to read and I am a sucker for love stories or movies. So this one particular book caught my eye. The title is simple, Love Story. Bang! I just take the book and decided to borrow it. The book is not that thick, so I manage to finished it in 2 days. And instantly I felt in love with the book.

The way it was written, it seems so real, as if you are watching the plot in real life. And the love between the main character is so pure and so simple and true. I got so emotionally involved and of course, I cried (really2 cry that I wet my pillow!) towards the end of the story. Yes, it is not a happy ending. It can be a happy ending, depends on how you interpret the ending.

One of the quote in the book that I love is "Love means never having to say you are sorry, ever". Well, it is true right? if you love someone, you are willing to forgive and move on (provided you dont repeat the same mistake la... tu nak kena pelempang namanye).

It is a very old book. In fact, the one that I found in the library dah nak terkoyak pun (I bet the book is sooked with tears of previous people who read it). I borrowed the book a few times. I even asked a best friend of mine to read it too. She love it and she came up with the idea for us to photocopy to book so that we get to read it over and over again in the future (I know, that is not allowed, I was naif back then, and dont have enough money to buy the book from book store :p). I've read the book more then 10 times.

The book is worth reading, trust me. I watched the movie, but not as good as they missed out some of the important details and plot. Yes, yes, I know, you cant cramp the whole book into a 2 hours movie. So go on and read the book. Tak payah tgk the movie pun. The book is good enough.

Eat, Pray, Love

I'm currently reading a book titled EAT, PRAY, LOVE.

It is a story about a women, Liz Gilbert, who in the eyes of many had it all -- a loving husband, a great career, and a weekend home -- but sometimes one realizes too little too late that they haven't gotten what they truly wanted from life. On the heels of a painful divorce, the woman who had previously looked forward to a contented life of domestic bliss sets out to seek her true destiny by traveling first to Italy, where she learns to appreciate nourishment; then to India, where she discovers the power of prayer; and finally to Bali, where she unexpectedly finds the meaning of true love.

The book has been adapted into movie staring Julia Roberts (my all time fav actress :P). Kat oversea dah keluar movie ni, kat Malaysia will be released on 30th September 2010. At least I have ample time to finish up the book before watching it in cinema.... Tak sabar!

Watch the trailer below... macam best kan?

My Water Moments

Do you have a Water Moments? The moment where you really indulge yourself in water and have fun? Well I do.

My Water Moments are during my first actual diving experience. It was 2 years ago in Pualau Tenggol, Terengganu during my Open Water Diving (OWD) test before I can get the actual license.

Anxious, thrilled, nervous, are the three words to describe my feelings as we gathered at the Jetty in Dungun on that beautiful morning. There were six new students (including me) who are scheduled to do our OWD test. Our 4D3N trip was joined by 12 other certified divers.

We reached Tenggol around 11am after a long 1 and half hour journey by boat. After listening to the briefing by the resort operator, checked in and had our scrumptious lunch we quickly kit up and get ready for our first dive!

Being the underwater “virgin”, we failed to adjust our buoyancy accordingly and most of the time lost our control and fin our way clumsily. As a result, we successfully created, "the underwater sand storm". Most of our time spent underwater filled with the attempt to find the right buoyancy.

That's me (in white shirt)! getting my gear ready for the next dive :)

The OWD test is carried out on our 8 dives! We were required to do mouth piece & mask clearing, buddy breathing, ditch & don, as well as buoyancy control. Although we were quite nervous, but all the long hours spent in the pool with thorough training really pays! We made it…

Since that was our first experiece diving, naturally we want to TAKE A PICTURE! But since non of us (the new diver) have a water proof camera, we have to take turn take pictures.. so there were not even a single picture of all 6 of us in the water :(

The photos could have been better if I had a water-proof camera like the Sony TX5. We would be able to capture a few precious moments in the water together.

Do you notice that most of the pictures (all of it actually) were taken from the boat? How I wish we had a camera that I can carry down to the water and take a better pictures.

Since I really-really enjoy water sports like diving & snorkeling, I really wish to have a water proof camera.

Here is what on top of my wish list. Cyber-shot TX5 by SONY. The features of the camera are so impressive.

Sandwich for Breakfast

Hubby works in a factory. If you haven't heard, working in a factory means you are bound to a very strict working hour. Meaning, once you clock in, you can only go for break/ tea at 10ish, for strictly 15 minutes only!and lunch is strictly 1 to 2 only. Macam kat sekolah kan? hahaha... in addition, you can only have lunch in the factory premise, strictly no going out. If for some reason, you have to go out, you are required to fill in the "permission slip".

During our dating years, hubby always complaint that due to this tight working hour, he always skip his meals. 10am is the time he is busy with all paper works. 1pm is the time he is busy in the warehouse to monitor his staff and all shipments. Sometimes he is too tired to walk to the cafeteria. Therefor, his only "real" meal for the day is dinner.

After we are married, I tried my best to prepare for him some breakfast. Just easy ones like sandwiches. Since my favorite food is sandwich, I have the skill to be creative with it. So hubby will not be bored to have it everyday. If I got up extra early, Ill prepare something more elaborate like fried rice or pasta or fried mee or just cucur ikan bilis.

Hubby told me that this had created some talks among the "makciks" in his office. Not negative talks, but positive ones. They said that they are impress on how I prepare the food. Basically they are referring to the food presentation. They said that my sandwich is not like the "normal" sandwich that they ever come across. so do my fried rice, and my pasta (lagi la kan... pasta for bfast??? hahaha), or even my cucur. According to hubby, the makciks is so anxious, every morning to see what my hubby brought from home. They are giving me unnecessary pressure!

Anyways, last week hubby came home and told me a story. It was about this lady in his office. She just gave birth recently (few months back) and until now, her baby haven't stop saliva-ting (producing lost and lost of saliva ~air liur~). She have seen the doctors about this but nothing can be done. She said according to elderly, this is because, the mother, during her pregnancy is craving for something/ food but did not manage to have/ eat it. Dalam bahasa Melayu nye, mengidam la... The only way for her to "cure" her baby is to eat what ever she used to crave during her pregnancy. She spent days recalling and finally she remembers. what do you think it is? (no prize for guessing)

Its my sandwich! no kidding!!!! During her pregnancy, she saw the sandwich that my hubby brought for breakfast. Since then, she is craving for one. But soon after that, she was in labour and have forgotten all about it. So yeah, she ask my husband to ask me to help make the same, exact sandwich. She is willing to pay for it. Hehehehe...

So this morning, I woke up early to make sandwich for her, at free of charge of course. Takkan la nak mintak duit kan. So I hope the baby will be "cured" by my sandwich, made with love :)

So all hubbies out there, please dont take your wife's craving lightly. They are not needy or spoil or desperate for your attention. Its no joke.

Tempted? hehehe

sleepy Head

I strongly believe that I've been cursed. Cursed with the sleep portion. Last weekend I slept for more then 12 hours straight. I woke up the next day feeling like a zombie, and still sleepy. I used to sleep around 11pm and wake up at 5.30am the next day and feel so fresh and all geared up for work. But now, I begin to feel sleepy as early as 8.30pm! And yet, I felt like I need another few hours of sleep the next morning. And I got worst in the office. I need to drink coffee everyday to keep me going. Help!

I slept in the flight when I was on outstation, I spent the whole day sleeping in hotel, I slept in the train on the way to work, I literally spent every spare minutes sleeping. Bad.. this is really bad. I need help

Instant Banana Fritters

I suddenly have the urge and mood to make my own goreng pisang. I call it "Goreng Pisang Malas" because I used the "Tepung Goreng Pisang Adabi" instead of making my own batter from scratch. But it makes my life a whole lot easier. It only takes less then 30 minutes to prepare.

You need bananas (well, obviously)

Cut the banana as desired

To prepare the batter, all you need to do is to add in water and some salt to taste. The batter has to be thick enough

Dip the cut banana in the batter and fry till it turns golden

Serve with hot tea... yummy!

Gardening up in the sky

Staying in an apartment is not an excuse for you not to plant trees or do gardening. I did it in the comfort of my balcony. And by doing so, I hope I did some little help in minimizing the effect of global warming.

This is my Cili Padi plant... all grown!

The fruit of my labor :D

And this is my growing red chillies plant.

Ikan Terubuk Masin Masak Lemak Cili Padi

I learn how to cook masak lemak cili padi from my little sister, who's MIL is from Negeri Sembilan. I dont think I need to elaborate further how exquisite does the masak lemak 'ala negeri sembilan taste like. And unlike my mom's recipe, it does not use any onion, at all.

This is the Terubuk Masin that I bought from my last trip to Bintulu, all cleaned and cut into small pieces

href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLT9pgQMs5hx1eks6H5Kh3lRcMT4vS6tiYsjqmdYhyphenhyphenuA70GeCZTcXv4wTC2WMRR8Jryr6RC5TpiQYLI33mhQ6v5AcNd8UZx6RQCEAfItl1gaDmwNaKrS_L_bGP_cx5e1OZX3JW/s1600-h/DSC04166.JPG">

Take 2 red chillies, few bird chilies (or more if you are daring), 2 inch long tumeric, and lamongrass.

Cut all the above into small pieces, in goes into the blender and blend well

Pour the blended ingredients into a pot with some oil and let it simmer

Next put in potato and a thick coconut milk (from 1 coconut)with some salt and sugar to taste.
If the curry seems to be hotter then u want it, the trick is just to add more salt or potato.

And finally add in the fish and continuously stir until it boils

Best served with deep fried fish and kangkong goreng belacan :D yummy!

3D Movie

Have you ever seen a 3D movie before? I have, twice. First was the movie "Journey to Centre of the Earth". I went with my nephew, nene. The movie was great as it was fast moving and I always have a thing for fantasy and animated movie. Nene had fun. As it was 3D, my nephew cant sit still as he kept on standing and extending is hands in attempt to grab whatever things flying towards our direction. It looks real!

Recently I went to watch Final Destination 4 with my fiance. I didnt enjoy it. I belive those who watched Final Destination 1, 2, and 3 would agree with me that the way all the cast in the movie died was very brutal. I had brutal. I love peace.. hehe. I was restless through out the movie. Not only that I have to watch them die brutally, but also in 3D! imagine that... huhu.. I closed my eyes most of the part. Especially the "dying" part.

And also, 3D movie makes my head spin. Porbably because of the special 3D glasses that you have to wear throughout the screening for the 3D effect. I had to take it out several time to relax my eyes. You have no choice but to put it on back as the picture on the screen is overlaping, unlike the normal screening. Do you get what I'm saying? hahaha

To get the first hand experience, I would suggest for you to try it on your own, then decide. The price is RM18/pax as opposed to the normal cinema price which is RM10/pax.

This is the sequel of the earlier book that I bought, Master of The Game. The story line was really2 good that I cant wait to read the sequal. Sidney Sheldon never let you down!

I've seen the trailer of the movie. But the movie is yet to be shown in Malaysia. Eversince, I've been trying so hard to get my hand on the novel. It seems to be the most wanted novel now as it was sold out in most of the major book store. I've tried Kinokuniya, Borders, but was disapointed. Finally, while waiting to meet my fiance at Subang Parade, I went to the MPH and as I walk past the Best Seller section, I found it! yeay!

The Time Traveler's Wife, published in 2003, is the debut novel of American author Audrey Niffenegger. It is a love story about a man with a genetic disorder that causes him to time travel unpredictably, and about his wife, an artist who has to cope with his frequent absences and dangerous experiences. Niffenegger, frustrated in love when she began the work, wrote the story as a metaphor for her failed relationships. The tale's central relationship came to her in a flash one day and subsequently became the novel's title. The novel, which has been classified as both science fiction and romance, examines issues of love, loss, and free will. In particular, it uses time travel to explore miscommunication and distance in relationships. It also investigates deeper existential questions.

As a first-time novelist, Niffenegger had trouble finding a literary agent. She eventually sent the novel to MacAdam/Cage unsolicited and, after an auction took place for the rights, Niffenegger selected them as her publisher. It became a bestseller after an endorsement from author and family friend Scott Turow on The Today Show, and as of March 2009 had sold nearly 2.5 million copies in the United States and the United Kingdom. Many reviewers were impressed with Niffenegger's unique perspective on time travel. Some praised her characterization of the couple, applauding their emotional depth; others criticized her writing style as melodramatic and the plot as emotionally trite. The novel won the Exclusive Books Boeke Prize and a British Book Award. A film version was released in August 2009.
