A.B.C

Ais Kacang, Ais Kacang
Bila cuaca panas dan rasa dahaga
Singgah di kedai, ais kacang diminta
Susu dan jagung, kacang dan lengkong
Air gula berwarna
Campur semua, enak rasanya
Kegemaran kita semua.......

Above is a school rhyme that I learn in primary school. Hands up to those who is familiar with that song?

Air Batu Campur or famously known as ABC. Best to have it especially during hot weather... like now. So last Sunday hubby decided to take me to this ABC stall in Shah Alam that he used to go during his Uni years.

Are you tempted? trust me, it is really, really, really good

Yummy!

What I love most about this is that is has lots and lots of peanuts.. Im nut about peanut

Did you notice the chocolate like toppings? it is actually thick Milo! and that is the secret that makes this ABC special, and yummy

You can find this extra special ABC in SS2 food court, in Shah Alam. Look for Fradoo ABC.

Instant Banana Fritters

I suddenly have the urge and mood to make my own goreng pisang. I call it "Goreng Pisang Malas" because I used the "Tepung Goreng Pisang Adabi" instead of making my own batter from scratch. But it makes my life a whole lot easier. It only takes less then 30 minutes to prepare.

You need bananas (well, obviously)

Cut the banana as desired

To prepare the batter, all you need to do is to add in water and some salt to taste. The batter has to be thick enough

Dip the cut banana in the batter and fry till it turns golden

Serve with hot tea... yummy!

Spring Cleaning

Today I spent most of the evening doing spring-cleaning. I've moved into my apartment for about a year now, but there are still few more boxes of my personal stuff that I brought from Kerteh to be unpacked. I'm all stressed out because the space in my apartment is too limited and my stuff is enough to actually occupy a double story house! Tu belum campur barang2 hubby. Therefor I decided to close one eye and to just throw away stuff that I don't want or use.

Still lots to unpack :(

And look what I found?! a box full of paper bag. I spent almost an hour trying to sort out and decide which one to keep and which one to let go.. though!

Finally I manage to just pick about 20pcs and throw away the rest

Gardening up in the sky

Staying in an apartment is not an excuse for you not to plant trees or do gardening. I did it in the comfort of my balcony. And by doing so, I hope I did some little help in minimizing the effect of global warming.

This is my Cili Padi plant... all grown!

The fruit of my labor :D

And this is my growing red chillies plant.

Village Grocer

I went to the newly opened mall in Kota Damansara called Sunway Giza to purchase some groceries as my brother in law is coming to our house for dinner. To save time and energy, I decided to make Kampung Fried Rice, Crispy Fried Chicken and some salad. I did my groceries shopping at Village Grocer. You can also find Village Grocer in Bangsar Village where I normally shop. What I love about this place is you can find rare and uncommon items that you normally couldnt find in any other store.

Anyways, I purchased a few items including a packed of mixed salad called "Lushious". The word/ slogan "Value Packed Freshness" were also printed on the label. So, giving the good reputation of the store and self-claimed statement made by the manufacturer, I was assured that the salad is indeed fresh. Well, I thought wrong!

That night, when I was ready to make the salad, look what I found!

I went back to the store first thing in the morning the next day. I wanted to make a complaint to the customer service. But the staff that I've spoken too offered to give me a new pack or to refund my money. Amboi2, senang-senang je. Not only that I did not manage to serve my guess salad last night, I also had to waste my time and petrol to go back to the store to earn my right. I want to see the right person to ensure that same thing will not happen in future, and I'm sure I deserve an apology.

To cut the long story short, I manage to get the Store Manager. But I was surprise and sad even, not only that the Store Manager did not offer me any apology, he insisted that my case is only one in a million. According to him, it was only my pack while other salad are in good condition. Im not stupid ok. And I even produced my receipt to prove that the salad was just purchased the day before. Lame!

Again, I was offered for a replacement. But I said I need the salad yesterday, not today, so I ask for refund and leave. And yeah, altho this incident happened sometime last month, I still decided to post it here, serve as a reminder to all of you out there. Dont judge a store by its... errr.. whatever. Lagi ada courage nak guna slogan "Quality Food". Quality Food my As@!

Bargain Items

I went to the newly opened Carrefour near our house in SS11 Kota Damansara last night with hubby to buy some essentials. We went there quite late as hubby is too hungry and decided to have our dinner first. As we are about to get to the cashier counter, I notice at the bakery and food area, Carrefour is promoting the items at discounted price. I was told that most of the store did this close to their closing hour as they wanted to clear off the items cooked on that day. I must say the items are pretty cheap. They discounted most of the food items more then 50%. Since we are pretty full at that time (Thank God we had our dinner, if not habis semua kitorang beli), we decided just to buy the spicy fried chicken. It was on sale for only RM0.90 for 2 pieces! That is less then RM0.50 per piece. So now you know the trick huh? Hehehe

Spanglish

Text that I receive from a friend:

"Babe, nanti kau tengok cerita Spanglish staring Adam Sandler. Anak perempuan Maxico tu sebijik muka kau... siap dimple pun ada.. hehehe"

I Google the cast of the movie and found out that the girl's name is Shelbie Carole Bruce. Here are some of her picture. Sama ke? She was born on 12 November 1992 (and I was born on 9 November 19... errr... hahaha)

Mee Gulam Kota Damansara

Been wanting to tell you all about this place for long time. But somehow I miss placed the pictures. Now baru jumpa, so let me share my experience.

The name of this Restaurant is Mee Gulam. The owner took up 2 end lots and convert this place into a huge restaurant. However, most of the customer occupies the open air area (sumhow I found Malaysian prefer open-air environment especially during evening and night.

Mee Gulam is a stall concept restaurant that offers variety selection ranging from sate, ikan bakar, nasi lemak and sotong kangkong to mee udang, mee rebus and char koey teow (and many more!)

Open Air space in between of 2 end-lots shop (of which owned by Mee Gulam)

Our table number, 123. I wonder if that is how many table they have there! (tak sempat nak kira)

Hubby's meal - Mee Rebus Gulam. I suppose it is tasty because he finished all (tak sempat nak rasa)

Mine - Char Koey Teow. My verdict, biasa jer... I've tasted better in Ampang (Hubby says the Koey Teow looks so disgusting in this picture.. heheheh)

Overall, this place is ok. Especially if you want to hang out with huge group of family and friends. Tapi air dia FAIL. tak sedap langsung.

Sakae Sushi

Hubby and I are a fan of Japanese food. I've been wanting to try out a restaurant in The Curve, so we decided to have our lunch there. The restaurant is called Sakae Sushi

Hubby is starving, so while waiting for his Yokubari Gozem set to arrive (See picture below), we decided to try out a few sushi plates that is placed on the conveying belt/ train, except there was none! I mean, there were a few on the train, but they are all the of same type. This is totally opposite as compared to Sushi King which place various types/ selections. All you have to do is wait for the one that you like, pick it out from the train, and enjoy! That way, you don't have to wait too long, and just choose, pick, choose and pick. You don't lose your momentum!

Since there were almost no sushi available for us to pick, we place our order. And I was shock that we had to wait nearly 45 minutes for our sushi to arrive. It was just a freaking sushi! I wonder what took the chef so long to prepare it. And there were not many other customer dining there at that particular time. I had to call the waiter and tell her that if my food did not come in the next 5 minutes, I like to cancel it and leave. heh!

Look at the almost empty train. Might as well you don't put it there! it defeat the purpose.

One view of the restaurant. It also has an outdoor area. Notice the computer screen at each of the table? Supposedly all you have to do is browse their menu on the screen and just click on your pick, and the selection will go straight to the kitchen. I find this very convenient as opposed to the waiter waiting and tapping their pen impatiently for you to browse the menu, decide and order your food. But sadly, it doesn't work. I meant it literally, my computer screen doesn't work... hahahha. So we have to opt for the conventional approach. Apa la, konon nak canggih sangat.

Breaded chicken cutlet with chicken curry (I find this weird, Japanese set with curry??), Grilled Scallop (this taste absolutely delicious!), Salmon Terriyaki,Steamed rice & Miso Soup.

My spicy Salmon Roll, trust me, it is spicy. To me it taste weird, sushi/roll that has been Malaysianize.. Will never order this again, ever.

Our verdict: Food is good, but service sucks! Hubby totally banned the place and say we will stick to Sushi King for our next Sushi trip
