I had Bisou Red Velvet Cupcake today during lunch. The cupcake is to die for! the cake is so moist and fresh. The cream cheese frosting is simply divine. And the price is just RM5/ pc. The size of the cuppies is big for the price you are paying. and the best part is that they did not compromise on the quality and taste! Sila la try.. pasti nak lagi. huhu

What is red velvet actually? Its just chocolate cake with red coloring! but it taste really2 nice, a taste of its own... weird huh?

Ikan Cencaru Sumbat Belakang

Haritu hubby out of the blue said that dia teringin nak makan ikan cencaru sumbat belakang. My mom make the best cencaru sumbat I've ever tasted! But I didnt ask her for the recipe of the sambal, instead, I google it. so dapat la recipe kat bawah ni.

Ramuan:
  • 1 cawan kelapa parut
  • 2 sudu besar cili boh
  • 1 sudu besar udang kering
  • 3 ekor ikan cencaru (dibelah belakang)
  • 3 ulas bwg putih
  • 4 ulas bwg merah
  • 1 sudu besar gula
  • 1 batang serai

Cara penyediaan:
  1. Ikan cencaru dibelah belakang. Basuh dan ketepikan.
  2. Tumbuk bwg putih, serai, udang kering dan bwg merah.
  3. Panaskan minyak. Tumis bahan2 yg ditumbuk.
  4. Masukkan cili boh, gula dan sedikit garam.
  5. Masukkan kelapa parut dan letak secubit serbuk kunyit.Gaulkan hingga sebati dan tutup api.
  6. Ikan cencaru digaulkan dengan sedikit garam.Sumbatkan ikan dengan bahan2 yang dimasak tadi.
  7. Bakar ikan dalam Oven pada suhu 230 drjh celcius.
  8. Kalau nak digoreng pun boleh..pastikan goreng deep fry.

For some reason the sambal turns out to be not so nice. It was ok, but not to my liking! rupa2nya my mom tak guna kelapa pun. Probably I'll try her version in future.

Ketam Masak Cili

My hubby is a huge fan of crab. So naturally I'm trying to make an attempt to cook them in variety of menu. I've tried deep fried and masak lemak. So I google up for new crab recipe. It seems that the most famous crab recipe is Ketam Masak Cili. I picked the one less complicated and using the least ingredients (at least tak la rugi kalau recipe tak menjadi).

My hard work pays! My hubby love every bit of the spicy sauce. Highly recommended for all of you to try at home. The recipe as follows:

Clean the crab and season with turmeric powder and some salt to taste

Ingredient A:

2 chili, some bird chili, lemon-grass, ginger, shallots, and onions (quantity as per picture above)

blend all of the ingredients above

Ingredient B
:

Chili Sauce, Tomato Sauce, Oyster Sauce, Black Paper Sauce, and fresh tomato

Put Ingredients A in a pan and simmer and later add in Ingredients B

And finally add in the crab and let it cook. And enjoy!

Sandwich for Breakfast

Hubby works in a factory. If you haven't heard, working in a factory means you are bound to a very strict working hour. Meaning, once you clock in, you can only go for break/ tea at 10ish, for strictly 15 minutes only!and lunch is strictly 1 to 2 only. Macam kat sekolah kan? hahaha... in addition, you can only have lunch in the factory premise, strictly no going out. If for some reason, you have to go out, you are required to fill in the "permission slip".

During our dating years, hubby always complaint that due to this tight working hour, he always skip his meals. 10am is the time he is busy with all paper works. 1pm is the time he is busy in the warehouse to monitor his staff and all shipments. Sometimes he is too tired to walk to the cafeteria. Therefor, his only "real" meal for the day is dinner.

After we are married, I tried my best to prepare for him some breakfast. Just easy ones like sandwiches. Since my favorite food is sandwich, I have the skill to be creative with it. So hubby will not be bored to have it everyday. If I got up extra early, Ill prepare something more elaborate like fried rice or pasta or fried mee or just cucur ikan bilis.

Hubby told me that this had created some talks among the "makciks" in his office. Not negative talks, but positive ones. They said that they are impress on how I prepare the food. Basically they are referring to the food presentation. They said that my sandwich is not like the "normal" sandwich that they ever come across. so do my fried rice, and my pasta (lagi la kan... pasta for bfast??? hahaha), or even my cucur. According to hubby, the makciks is so anxious, every morning to see what my hubby brought from home. They are giving me unnecessary pressure!

Anyways, last week hubby came home and told me a story. It was about this lady in his office. She just gave birth recently (few months back) and until now, her baby haven't stop saliva-ting (producing lost and lost of saliva ~air liur~). She have seen the doctors about this but nothing can be done. She said according to elderly, this is because, the mother, during her pregnancy is craving for something/ food but did not manage to have/ eat it. Dalam bahasa Melayu nye, mengidam la... The only way for her to "cure" her baby is to eat what ever she used to crave during her pregnancy. She spent days recalling and finally she remembers. what do you think it is? (no prize for guessing)

Its my sandwich! no kidding!!!! During her pregnancy, she saw the sandwich that my hubby brought for breakfast. Since then, she is craving for one. But soon after that, she was in labour and have forgotten all about it. So yeah, she ask my husband to ask me to help make the same, exact sandwich. She is willing to pay for it. Hehehehe...

So this morning, I woke up early to make sandwich for her, at free of charge of course. Takkan la nak mintak duit kan. So I hope the baby will be "cured" by my sandwich, made with love :)

So all hubbies out there, please dont take your wife's craving lightly. They are not needy or spoil or desperate for your attention. Its no joke.

Tempted? hehehe

Instant Banana Fritters

I suddenly have the urge and mood to make my own goreng pisang. I call it "Goreng Pisang Malas" because I used the "Tepung Goreng Pisang Adabi" instead of making my own batter from scratch. But it makes my life a whole lot easier. It only takes less then 30 minutes to prepare.

You need bananas (well, obviously)

Cut the banana as desired

To prepare the batter, all you need to do is to add in water and some salt to taste. The batter has to be thick enough

Dip the cut banana in the batter and fry till it turns golden

Serve with hot tea... yummy!

Ikan Terubuk Masin Masak Lemak Cili Padi

I learn how to cook masak lemak cili padi from my little sister, who's MIL is from Negeri Sembilan. I dont think I need to elaborate further how exquisite does the masak lemak 'ala negeri sembilan taste like. And unlike my mom's recipe, it does not use any onion, at all.

This is the Terubuk Masin that I bought from my last trip to Bintulu, all cleaned and cut into small pieces

href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLT9pgQMs5hx1eks6H5Kh3lRcMT4vS6tiYsjqmdYhyphenhyphenuA70GeCZTcXv4wTC2WMRR8Jryr6RC5TpiQYLI33mhQ6v5AcNd8UZx6RQCEAfItl1gaDmwNaKrS_L_bGP_cx5e1OZX3JW/s1600-h/DSC04166.JPG">

Take 2 red chillies, few bird chilies (or more if you are daring), 2 inch long tumeric, and lamongrass.

Cut all the above into small pieces, in goes into the blender and blend well

Pour the blended ingredients into a pot with some oil and let it simmer

Next put in potato and a thick coconut milk (from 1 coconut)with some salt and sugar to taste.
If the curry seems to be hotter then u want it, the trick is just to add more salt or potato.

And finally add in the fish and continuously stir until it boils

Best served with deep fried fish and kangkong goreng belacan :D yummy!

Kisah Ayam Masak Merah

Do you feel tempted just by looking at the picture above? Well, it its not my cooking, I took it here just for, well, err, inspiration.

For some reason I'm craving to eat Ayam Masak Merah. So I browsed for the recipe from the internet. There were so many versions available and finally I picked the one that I found most straight forward and easy to follow.

Arriving home from office, I quickly change and get into the kitchen to begin with the mission. One of the ingredient is thin coconut milk Santan cair). I cant find fresh coconut milk, so I bought the packet (powder) version instead. The measurement is one cup, but since I dont want to throw away the balance neither to keep it, I decided to put everything in. The end result looks fine.

Next on the menu is fried mixed vege. After spending almost 2 hours in the kitchen, I'm done. I really looking forward to serve the dinner to hubby.

Later, at the dining table, hubby complimented my cooking :

Pandai Sayang masak. Sedap Ayam Percik nie...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA..... Ayam Masak Merah jadi Ayam Percik :D I'll stick by the recipe next time :D
